I just love Zahn's writing. The book I'm currently reading, Star Wars: Allegiance, is set between A New Hope and Empire. The story has Luke, Leia, Han and Chewbacca, but also Mara Jade, one of Zahn's greatest creations, and a group of wily Elite Stormtroopers who aren't happy with their immediate bosses. To Han's complete lack of surprise, the rendezvous turned out to be like all the rest of the little hidey-holes General Rieekan seemed to have stashed around the Empire. It was quiet, reasonably private, and about as sorry an excuse for a military base as he'd ever seen.

Still, it did have one redeeming value. Leia was there.

I just finished the novelization of the movie. I wasn't thrilled with the author's style; he changes points of view way too often. However, I trudged through because I wanted more than what I saw onscreen. And I got exactly what I wanted and expected. The end, the fight betwen Anakin and Obi-Wan, made ma laugh and cry.
